How the hell do you get a flash drive to work?

It worked fine before.
I have a new os installed XP with service pack 2.
My 1gig usb mem card doesn't work any more. It says it is not formatted?
How is that when it worked fine before?
When i try to format it it denies me.
Anyone know WTF to do ?

I know this sounds "dumb" - but is the write protect switch on? (it happens)
Other than that, I don't know.
Mine has never done that to me. :shock:

Was it plugged in when you redid your computer? I had this issue once.

Last time it worked was on a XP SP2 install.
I plugged it in and zoom it recognized it as a drive. I could drag and drop stuff to and from it.

Now after a clean install of XP with SP2 it sees it as a drive but i cant save to it or explore it at all. It says i need to format. If i select yes it says that it is unformatable. :lol:
I think it is hosed.

OK, let me think what I did and I'll post the answer. It isn't screwed. It is just confused. I had one like that before. I have a nephew I suspect of being confused too. Hehe.
