The final score...
The final score.
Hurricane Ike: 1
Houston: 0
Power was restored at the House of Hermskii as of 2:30 PM on 10-20-08. I will be happy to tell you all about it but I have to go get my mother who is 76 and still has no power. More on this tonight. Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes.
The servers will be back on starting right now but I think they'll have a new IP address. I'll start them up on my way out the door. CYA!

Yep
Yes, I certainly was scared at several points. I didn't really prepare for this storm like I now know I should have. When the wind really started coming on I got very nervous. I actually went outside to check damage at one point around 3:30 AM while the storm was just getting very nasty. While I was out there, the next level of wind started in. I ended up running back inside for my life. I was so stupid for going out and I knew it.
I'll stay for all catagory 2 storms in the future but a 3 or higher will have me boarding up the windows and leaving town. No doubt. The downtown pictures of the windows blown out was actually about 20 miles north of where I live. I was closer than it to the storm.
My house got the clean side of the storm thank God! I'm still glad I stayed for it but I won't do that again.
Hey gopostal, I don't know what to say as far as trying to help. I'd say to do what you suggested by giving to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army. Was I scared? Hell yeah...

More
Here are some more pictures. A player here named Mick wh is my cousin sent this link to me.
I want to take a second also and thanks Mick, HippieKat and Meat for trying to keep you updated here about my well being during the storm. I especially thank MEAT who called me and posted a really good update for everybody.
Here is the link to more good pictures. I live right off of I-45 south which is the main road between Houston and Galveston. I'm about 20 miles south of Downtown Houston while still living in the city of Houston and about 30 miles north of Galveston so, I'm just about halfway between Galveston and Houston you could say. My wife and I with the kids had gone to Galveston for a day at the beach and for the first time with our youngest son. Both of us were amazed at how good Galveston looked. The water was warm and clearer than usual. The breeze was cool and the skys were clear. We stayed from 10 AM to around 5 PM and I got sunburned to death being my first real beach outing in years. I'll try to find some pictures and post them of what Galveston looked like just a week before the storm.
